TATA NYK Supports the Environment Through Coastal Restoration and Thoughtful Employee Gifting in line with World Environment Day 2026
At TATA NYK, sustainability is not just about fuel efficiency and smooth operations at sea. It’s also about the communities we support and the choices we make on land. Our recent initiatives around World Environment Day show this commitment, across our Kolkata and Singapore offices.
Bakkhali Coastal Restoration Drive (Kolkata)
Working with NGO, Aloy Fera, our Kolkata team carried out a coastal restoration project at Bakkhali:
Tree Plantation: We planted 150 native saplings — Sonaru, Jarul, and Sonajhuri — to support biodiversity, prevent soil erosion, and strengthen the coastline. Together with Aloy Fera, we’ve set up a plan to track the saplings’ growth and care for them over time, so this effort creates real, lasting benefits.
Beach Cleanup: Our team cleared plastic and other non-biodegradable waste from the beach, helping protect marine life and raise awareness about caring for our coastlines.
In Singapore, our employees received plantable notebook and pen sets from Purple & Pure, a social enterprise that makes seed-paper stationery by hand from upcycled materials. Their work also supports the livelihoods of underprivileged women in India. It’s a simple way to bring sustainability into everyday work life.
These initiatives are part of TATA NYK’s ongoing commitment to the environment — supporting biodiversity, building climate resilience, and making sustainability part of everyday life. We plan to expand these efforts to more locations, work with trusted partners, and keep measuring our impact. Because at TATA NYK, sustainable shipping starts with simple, responsible actions — at sea and on land.
